There’s nothing we love more than a personal wedding in the heart of downtown Birmingham! We love this beautiful wedding featuring an amazing celebration at Sloss Furnace. We are so excited to share more of bride, Caroline’s perspective on her big day!
Tell us about your inspiration for your wedding day.
Alex and I wanted our wedding to be timeless and classic, yet still unique to us. From our venues, to our first dance song, to the cakes and our reception exit we wanted everyone to see a little bit of us in each detail. I feel like we achieved this thanks to the best vendors and staying true to what we wanted!
What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your big day?
It was really important to us that our day flowed naturally and that we got to enjoy the wedding we spent so much time organizing. We put a lot of thought and effort into ensuring all logistics were taken care before the start of the wedding weekend so we could fully enjoy the weekend and focus on each other and our guests. We also wanted to have a lot of FUN!
Was it important for you to get married in Birmingham? If so, why?
It was very important to us to get married in Birmingham! I’m from Birmingham, and it’s where Alex and I met and fell in love. We particularly love downtown Birmingham – we’ve spent our entire relationship exploring both new and old parts of downtown. Thanks to Chris Amerson, we even had an amazing lighting feature of the Birmingham skyline above our band at the reception! We wanted to give our guests an experience that reflected what Birmingham is to us. For our wedding ceremony, it was a joy to invite our guests to the beautiful church we attend in our Highland Park neighborhood, Independent Presbyterian Church. For the reception, what better representation of Birmingham than Sloss Furnace! It’s so unique to Birmingham and was such a great historical backdrop!
Tell us your favorite part of your wedding day.
That’s hard! The ceremony was really special to us. Our minister had us turn around and look at everyone briefly while we were at the altar, and that was very humbling to see all of our family and friends there with us as we prepared to say our vows to one another.
Do you have any advice to share with brides who are currently planning their big day?
Don’t lose sight of what matters! At the end of the day you are marrying your best friend and nothing can ruin that. Stay focused on one another and prioritize what matters to both of you early on so that you don’t get lost in all of the details. I highly recommend getting a month of coordinator to help you and your family tie up all of the loose ends so that you all can fully enjoy the day!
Congratulations Caroline and Alex! Thank you for letting us feature your beautiful wedding day!
