Give us all the color and all the warm wedding vibes! We can hardly wait for spring weddings to start popping up in Birmingham, but until then, we’ll be dreaming about Zach and Jordan’s gorgeous wedding day shot by our friends at Eric & Jamie Photography. From the bright, bold colors to the fabulous touches of personal detail throughout the wedding day, we just loved getting to take a sneak peek into this beautiful Birmingham wedding. Thanks so much to Jordan for giving us the inside scoop on her magical Birmingham wedding day!
What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your big day? I wanted it to be true to Zach and I. We both are pretty bright and bold people so translating that into a more upscale event was the goal! We also wanted to spend as much time with family and friends as possible, so the locations of the Redmont Hotel, the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the Birmingham Museum of Art was perfect. We were able to walk to the church for rehearsal, hosted the rehearsal dinner at the hotel on the mezzanine level then guests went to the rooftop bar for a nightcap. This was a great way to see guests who were already in town and enjoy the nice weather in September!
Tell us about your inspiration for your wedding day. Jewel tones with some blush compliments. Towards the end of planning I lovingly called it “Alice in Wonderland goes to the ball” – strange I know but I wanted rich gorgeous florals to compliment the uniqueness of the museum as well as Zach and I’s personalities!
Tell us your favorite part of your wedding day? My favorite part was our introduction into our reception. After our mass was celebrated, we were whisked over to the museum for a private dinner upstairs just the two of us. We had a chance to chat and giggle, shared a bottle of wedding wine from Cana and rehashed our favorite/funniest moments throughout the day. Then when we were ready, we descended the staircase and were announced as Mr. and Mrs. Zachary Scott Chambliss. I will never forget that moment! I looked at Zach as we conquered the last step and I was so proud that this was my husband. I was so grateful for everything that had brought me to this moment and I could not wait to see this incredible man thrive as my husband and the father of my children.
Was it important for you to get married in Birmingham? If so, why? Yes! We both love Birmingham. I was born in Russellville, AL and Zach was born in Montgomery, AL and we settled in Birmingham upon graduating from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide). We were ecstatic to get to showcase our town to our family and friends! We had already fallen in love with this great city so we worked hard to create a weekend to ensure our guests did too. 🙂
Do you have any advice to share with brides who are currently planning their big day? 2 things! 1. Don’t forget to count your friends outside of your wedding party! Naturally one of the first things you start to gather is a guest list/head count for the big day. It is necessary to determine cost and the size of venue you will need. Many brides ask the two families to gather a list of family & friends they would like to invite and often times once you combine those lists, you are way over the number you intended. And asking his and your family to cut those numbers can be difficult. So I recommend sitting down with your soon to be husband and make a list of friends you definitely want to be there and building that number in before turning over the rest to the two families. Doing this helped us ensure a dance floor that was packed all night long! 2. Build in moments to breathe throughout the day. One thing that was very important to me was that after our first look I wanted Zach and I to have private time to say a rosary (a series of prayers) together and have a few minutes to reflect alone before pictures and everything began. This was one of the best parts of the day. You get a brief moment of normalcy! Take a deep breath together and get excited about what is to come.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Chambliss! Cheers to many more years of wedded bliss and lots of celebration! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous Birmingham wedding day with us.
