The Barn at Shady Lane Real Wedding by Piper Vine Photography

Soft, romantic colors. A beautiful venue. Stunning florals. The sweetest couple. All of these things describe Mackenzie and Chandler’s August wedding day. From the beautiful lounge provided by Prophouse Birmingham to the picture perfect floral arch, this wedding day has to be one of our favorites this year! Thanks to our friends at Piper Vine Photography, we’re able to share all of the gorgeous details from this fabulous Birmingham wedding day with you!
We love when brides share all their visions and ideas from their big day! We were able to catch up with bride Mackenzie who answered some questions for us.
Tell us about your inspiration for your wedding day. “I have a very unique style. I seem to gravitate classic items that have a modern twist to them. My mom and I coined the genre “urban meadow” (by husband thought it was a little extra but we had fun using it!). I wanted to have a balance of delicate, timeless elements and modern, simple accents and an “urban meadow” was the result.”
What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your big day? “The most important thing for me when planning was I wanted to be intentional to impact others. This played out in different way. A few examples were that we had all of our left over food and flowers donated after the ceremony. Also, Our wedding invitations and plates were all made out of recycled materials. I did lots of research in planning because I wanted to not only make good decisions but responsible decisions.”
Was it important for you to get married in Birmingham?  If so, why? “Both of our families live in Birmingham so it was a practical choice!”
Tell us your favorite part of your wedding day? “One of my favorite parts of my wedding day was our first meal as a newly wed couple! My incredible mother went behind my back to find the table and chairs where we had our first date (a coffee date at Toomer’s Coffee in Auburn, AL) so we could have our first meal at the same table. I definitely shed a couple tears to see how everything came full circle.”
Do you have any advice to share with brides who are currently planning their big day? “Society says that this is YOUR day and you should do what YOU want. I would have to disagree. Yes, I do think that your wedding is a cool, unique way to showcase you and your fiance’s personality but there are so many other people involved in the process who love you so much. Your attendees are coming, some traveling from very far away too, because they love and want to celebrate you! Don’t forget about them in the little details. When you can’t come to a decision, think what would be best for them! You can leave your big day not only feeling loved and cherished but having your guests and close family feel loved and cherished too!”
