When we first saw the highlight video from 65 South Productions featuring Kaitlin and Michael twirling in the middle of downtown Birmingham, we knew we had to show you all the beautiful details from their wedding! Featuring beautiful neutrals of champagne, navy, and sage – everything about this wedding says boho meets industrial. With stunning Birmingham details (like our favorite Magic City sign from PropHouse Birmingham!), lots of greenery, and beautiful boho elements, Kaitlin and Michael’s industrial wedding at Iron City was such a perfect Birmingham summer wedding!
We love to hear the bride’s perspective on her big day! Kaitlin filled us in on her inspiration and advice from her big day, and we are so excited to be able to share that with you!
Tell us about your inspiration for your wedding day.
I wanted a boho/industrial themed wedding. Iron City was the perfect venue for this. I wanted lots of greenery with white flowers, string lights and drapery. I loved our colors: champagne, sage, and navy. We were able to incorporate them into everything from the koozies to the bridesmaids dresses. We also wanted to incorporate lots of Birmingham elements. Our vendors were all from Birmingham, we had a beautiful Magic City sign from Prophouse, and we had local draft beers on tap.
What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your big day?
We wanted it to be intimate while at the same time we wanted to celebrate with 250 of our closest family and friends, and we wanted them all to have a blast. To me, the most important thing was to be present with my groom at every moment. From the first look, to the ceremony, to the dance floor surrounded by friends and family, I wanted to take in every moment with my new husband.
Was it important for you to get married in Birmingham? If so, why?
Yes, because Birmingham is our home and where we will be spending our foreseeable future!
Tell us what your favorite part of your wedding day was.
My favorite part of the wedding day was seeing Michael for the first time that day and realizing it was really happening; I was about to marry my best friend, and that was incredibly special.
Do you have any advice to share with brides who are currently planning their big day?
Enjoy every moment of the day. Not every detail will play out as planned, but remember why you’re there. Stay close to your groom the entire day. It is easy to get pulled in different directions with everyone wanting to congratulate you!
One of our favorite parts of Kaitlin and Michael’s wedding day? This beautiful film from 65 South Productions! There is nothing more romantic than twirling with your new husband in your favorite city.
