It’s no secret that every bride wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day. The most beautiful dress, show-stopping accessories, the perfect hairstyle, stunning make-up, and maybe most importantly, glowing skin! It’s the ONE day of your life where everything about your appearance really does need to be perfect. In addition to finding that perfect gown and selecting the best hair stylist and make-up artist (see our favorites here!), there are some things you can do to prepare for your big day ahead of time: preparing your skin.
We met up with Jackie Robinson, owner of Rawwbeauty one of our favorite hair and make-up studios in Birmingham, to hear her best tips for taking care of your skin. If you aren’t already following these tips, start them at least 6 months before your big day and you’re sure to have a perfect bridal glow by the time your big day comes around!
Drink water. And tons of it! Water helps with your skin’s elasticity and plumpness. It’s the easiest and least expensive way to truly care for your skin!
Wear sunscreen. All day every day! Unfortunately make-up alone will not protect your skin, so it’s important to wear sunscreen under your make-up every single day. Jackie’s favorite sunscreen is Perfect Sunscreen by LimeLife. It works perfectly under make-up and is chemical and paraban free.
Exfoliation is key! You can’t have perfect make-up if you don’t have a great blank canvas to start with. Jackie loves using her clarasonic to exfoliate a couple of times a week and she also highly recommends Sonia Roselli sex apeel instant exfoliation spray.
Start dermaplaning once a month. Dermaplaning is another form of exfoliation, and it gives your skin such a beautiful glow! It gets rid of the top layer of dead skin and peach fuzz. It will make your skin feel as soft as a baby and your make-up will go on flawlessly!
Don’t do anything new to your skin 3 weeks before your wedding. You never know how your skin will react to new things, so it’s important to not try any new products or treatments in the weeks leading up to your wedding day. The only thing you might consider are getting your brows waxed – but only if you are already used to it!
