A Kress Building Wedding by Eric & Jamie Photography

Rooftops in Birmingham create some of the most fun, enjoyable atmospheres for a wedding, especially when it’s on top of the historic Kress building overlooking the Magic City in all of it’s summertime glory! Bride and groom, Stephanie and Matt, had the vendor ‘dream team’ and were so happy to share their love of Birmingham with their family and friends. One of our favorite details? Definitely the showstopping ‘Birmingham The Magic City’ replica from Prophouse Birmingham that looked absolutely perfect at this reception. Our friends at Eric & Jamie Photography were kind enough to share this beautiful wedding with us and we know you’re going to absolutely love all of the perfectly curated Birmingham details!

We always love hearing about the wedding day from the bride’s point of view.  Here’s what Stephanie had to say about her big day!
What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your big day? I wanted to do everything I could to make the day as stress free as possible. We worked really hard, along with our amazing vendors, to make sure everything was as organized & coordinated as it could possibly be.  Also, we didn’t leave for our honeymoon until Monday, which meant we could really enjoy our reception!  Getting everything prepped and ready before the big day meant we could enjoy the whole day stress free!

Tell us about your inspiration for your wedding day! We knew we wanted something classic but still fun.  That informed our choices for venues and everything else. We wanted the venues to be something different, that none of our friends had really used before – that made it very challenging! In the end we had a perfect mix of a traditional chapel ceremony and a crazy, fun, let loose reception. Our rooftop reception at the Kress was perfect with downtown Birmingham as the backdrop!

Was it important to you to get married in Birmingham?  If so, why?
It was important for us to get married in Birmingham because we’re both from Birmingham, currently live in Birmingham, and the majority of our friends and family are here.  It was a no-brainer!

Tell us your favorite part of your big day!
It’s so hard to pick just one!  Emotionally, for me it was probably seeing Matt’s face as I walked down the aisle. The first look was also amazing.  We had so much fun at our reception! It’s not often you’re surrounded by those you love most from every part of your life. The love and joy was overwhelming.

Do you have any advice to share with other brides currently planning their wedding?
A friend passed on some advice to me, she said to pick three specific moments where you want to be fully present. Think of them in advance, so that in those moments you can stop and absorb everything about them. Keeping things like that in mind helped me remember what the day is really about.  It was perspective I needed so that I wouldn’t sweat the small stuff, and I could be fully emotionally present for key moments of the day.  It was definitely the happiest day of our lives. We often say we’d relive the day every year if we could!

Congrats, Stephanie and Matt! Thank you for sharing your beautiful rooftop Birmingham wedding with us!
